World Record Largest Online Poker Tournament

Posted under internet poker & online poker & tournament poker

Full Tilt Poker will attempt to stamp its name on the Guinness Records and to do so; the site has announced that it will try to set a new record for the Largest Online Poker Tournament. Full Tilt’s Record Breaker tournament was unveiled as the finale to FIVE, a week of events and promotions created exclusively to celebrate the site’s 5th anniversary. The tournament will take place on July 19th at 15:05ET, players can buy in for this event for only $5 or 1000 Full Tilt Points and compete for a share of a $250,000 guaranteed with $250,000 added prize pool. Players can also get entries to this event by playing the online satellites available on the site and starting for as little as 30 cents or 50 Full Tilt Points.

Team Full Tilt pros and WSOP bracelet winners Howard Lederer, Chris Ferguson and Phil Ivey have already confirmed they will take part in the event, offering players the chance to sit down at this historic tournament and play with some of the best high stakes and tournament pros in the world.

“By extending the limits of what is possible in online poker tournaments, Full Tilt Poker will allow players to compete for a big payout without the big buy-in,” said Team Full Tilt member Howard Lederer.

Putting together a poker tournament of this magnitude would be nearly impossible for any brick and mortar casino or poker room. The current record for the largest “live” poker tournament was set at the 2006 WSOP Main Event with 8,772 players. To break the current Guinness Record set by PokeStars.com in December, 2008, Full Tilt Poker will need to attract over 35.000 players. If successful, this tournament will establish Full Tilt Poker as World Record holder and cement its reputation as a world leader in online poker industry.

Full Tilt has just unveiled an innovative informative site involving all the excitement of the “Durrrr Challenge”, an incredible online heads up tournament presenting some of the finest big money online players competing against the online poker star Tom “durrrr” Dwan.

The brand new section presents poker players and fanatics the opportunity to follow this incredible internet poker challenge and get timely statistical updates. With this innovative “durrrr Challenge” site players can track all the action and look at each poker hand played during the poker challenge, and get lots of statistics, including how many hands were played, session time, amount won, average won during each hand and lots more.

Around six months ago, the 23 year old internet poker professional issued a heads-up poker challenge open to any poker player with the money, time and ability to accept it. Any poker player entering the durrrr challenge has to put up $500,000 against Tom’s $1.5 million. Dwan’s challenge states that at least 50,000 hands need to be played simultaneously at 4 or more poker tables of no-limit Hold’em or pot-limit Omaha. At the end of the poker challenge, the player who has more money will secure the pool. Essentially if you enter the FullTilt.com durrrr challenge and win a dollar after the 50,000 poker hands, then you will take home durrrr’s $1.5 Million, but if he wins by a dollar then he will take home your $500,000.

So far, a number of poker players have agreed to to play the Full Tilt “durrrr challenge”, including WSOP Champ Phil Ivey and David Benyamine, yet, only Patrick Antonius has agreed to the challenge. Thus far, both poker stars have engaged in a total of 20,647 hands out of 50,000, with durrrr up by $726,546 total.

Online Texas Hold’em Poker Investigation Story will be shown on TV

Posted under internet poker & online poker & online poker sites

60 minutes
On Sunday, November 30th the CBS network will present their documentary “How Online Gamblers Unmasked Cheaters”. This documentary was shot after a sixteen week research into the online Texas Hold’em industry and specifically a cheating scandal concerning the online poker webpage Absolute Poker.

This Texas Hold’em poker site was examined after some of the Texas Hold’em poker players on the website alleged that someone was unfairly winning an incredible amount of money. Todd Witteles was a vital witness in this research, according to Witteles; he was losing great amounts of money to the very same Texas Hold’em poker player. Witteles alleges that this player was raising against extremely good poker hands, most people would have thought he was basically giving his money to the other players, but he was in reality winning quite often.

Witteles was in the right with his suppositions, it was later exposed that a person on the inside was able to watch anyone’s poker hole cards. At first, Absolute Poker claimed that there was no wrongdoing with the website or the Texas Hold’em poker player. After numerous players stepped up with allegations, the Texas Hold’em site examined deeper into the problem and uncovered the mystery.

By January of 2008, the Kahnawake Gaming Commision came across what the Texas Hold’em competitors and the Texas Hold’em poker website had supposed all along. As it turns out, there was an employee who had invaded the Texas Hold’em page’s security system and was competing unlawfully for more or less six weeks. The investigation verified that the poker room had not gained from the dishonest behavior at all, and was definitely not implicated.

These scams are further proof that there should be more rules in regards to online Texas hold’em pages. The U.S. government ought to authorize and control the internet gambling industry to look after these upright consumers. These regulations would also police the access to these sites by kids, which tends to be another concern recently.

The rewards of online Texas Holdem versus real poker rooms are infinite, but with these rewards there are also a few troubles. Online Texas Holdem allows regular amateur players the possibility to try their luck in real poker tournaments with pro Texas Hold em players, but these beginner players must avoid any disturbances that could harm their opportunities to win lots of poker chips.

The majority of online Texas Holdem players become preoccupied by their surroundings, or possibly by the internet poker webpage they are playing on. These disturbances can actually cost them great hands and probably their well-deserved Texas Hold em chips. The game of Texas Holdem is a game of talent as well as total attention, no matter if you are playing at home, or in an actual brick and mortar casino.

Perhaps, the greatest error that internet poker players commit is by competing in more than one online poker table simultaneously. The better part of amateur internet poker players will feel that this is a good thought, but at the end of the day it could possibly workout to be a loss. This scheme of playing several online poker tables in sequence will divert your focus and ultimately cost you money. Remember that even the most skilled Texas Holdem players out there can commit harmful errors when directing their attention on a few Full Tilt Poker tables at once.

Any given online Texas Holdem poker player, may at any instant, discover themselves playing various internet poker tables at once, at the same time as they are watching the news, reading their favorite poker blogs, talking on the phone to friends etc. This is a state which should be avoided if you long to win poker games and meet the requirements for big Full Tilt Poker tournaments. Never forget to direct your attention on the other online poker player’s wagers, their actions, and your own online Texas Holdem poker hands if you want to be the best poker player.
